Upgrade!

Yesterday I returned home to find that our old fridge had found its new home in the garage to make way for the new GE Cafe fridge. Isn’t she a beaut?!

 

Unfortunately, the delivery people tried to talk Rebecca in giving them the black fridge by lying and saying that it didn’t work :(, we think they make $ on each used appliance they take back. And even though we paid for an install, they didn’t do any of the water hook up and only plugged the fridge in. When Patrick went to hook up the water he found that it was missing a component so we couldn’t hook it up. Off to HD for him, but he didn’t have luck finding what he needed, which means another run to HD today.

Apparently if you buy your appliance at HD, they turn that PO to the manufacturer who in turn, sources out the job to someone else. We feel there is little accountability by Home Depot, GE — who can’t even tell us who they sourced the job to, and they are not giving us the part that is missing so we can have a fully functional fridge that we paid for. Patrick is on the way to Home Depot to talk to them about getting our delivery fees back because they didn’t do the job and also tried to scam our nanny (who’s English isn’t 100%) into giving them a second fridge to take away. So many shady businesses/people out there. It’s mind boggling how they have not been called out before. Also, it’s really disappointing that large corporations like Home Depot and GE won’t take any responsibility when a delivery goes wrong or a part goes missing upon delivery.

Ugh, back to the fridge, sorry about the rant.

The cabinets above were about an inch lower than they should be so the new fridge could not slide in under it so we took the cabinets out for now. We will paint them, since they are already off, and put them back on after we are done. Maybe we will paint the wall too while the cabinet and fridge is out of the way…Speaking of the kitchen walls, we have the final missing tiles. It’s time to finish the backsplash, get the walls painted, and get the cabinets painted! Still lots to do in our money pit home. I also found great deals on appliances to upgrade the rest of the kitchen and the washer and dryer last night so hopefully we will be able to move ahead with more upgrades now while the deals are going on.

Lesson of the day, people suck. Big corporations are not any better. But we love the fridge and can’t wait to get the kitchen done!
